Ogie Alcasid

Ogie Alcasid is a great blessing to the world of OPM. Not only does Ogie possess a soulful voice, he is also gifted with extraordinary songwriting skills. This multi-awarded artist is also a great comedian and a skilled entrepreneur.

Ogie, whose real name is Herminio Alcasid Jr., was born on August 27, 1967. Ogie’s first foray into the recording industry came in the form of his self-titled album, which was released in 1989. The album, which became a gold record, contained the hit single “Nandito Ako”. Since then, Ogie has released 18 albums, which earned him numerous awards and recognitions, including three double platinum record achievements.

His great songwriting skills made him create some of the most memorable ballads in OPM. Ogie is known to write songs from the heart. He turns the most heart-wrenching experiences in his life into perfect materials for his songs. Aside from penning his own songs, Ogie lends his talents to other established artists, including Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez.

Ogie does not rest on his laurels. Ogie was able to parlay his success in music into a career in film and television. He started out as a host of Small Brothers, a comedy show on ABS-CBN. He found his niche in comedy, and starred in programs such as Mana Mana and Tropang Trumpo. Together with close friend Michael V., Ogie became one of the main stars of Bubble Gang, considered to be the longest running comedy show in Philippine television.

His movies include Shake, Rattle & Roll 3, Manolo en Michelle, Captain Barbell and Desperadas 2.

He continued his TV hosting stints in shows like Game Na Game Na and Family Feud. Ogie is currently one of the main hosts of the Sunday variety show SOP.

Ogie is also known for his personal relationships. He first married former Miss Australia Michelle Van Eimeren, whom he met during the Miss Universe Pageant in Manila. They later divorced after many years of married bliss. He is now in a relationship with Regine Velasquez.
