Nikki Gil
Singer, model, TV host and actress Nikki Gil is one of the genuinely talented celebrities of her generation. Born Monica Pauline Santos Gil on August 23, 1987, she was part of a musically-inclined family. Young Nikki was already doing commercial voiceovers at the age of four. She was a high school valedictorian, and later became an English Literature graduate from the Ateneo de Manila University.
Nikki first streamed into public consciousness as a model for Coca-Cola in 2005. She eventually became a talent of ABS-CBN and she was given a VJ stint for MYX, the network’s music channel. Other projects came her way, such as a hosting stint for the morning show Breakfast on ANC. She also became one of the hosts of the weekly variety show ASAP. In 2006, Nikki became a host for the singing reality show Pinoy Dream Academy, along with Bianca Gonzales and Toni Gonzaga. She also hosted the show’s second season. Her first movie project came courtesy of a cameo role in One More Chance, which stars John Lloyd Cruz. More acting opportunities came for Nikki, including the TV drama Rounin.
Her music career also became a success. Nikki released her self-album titled in 2005 under EMI Philippines. A year after, she was tapped as one of the singers for “Breaking Free”, the theme song of the hit Disney Channel film High School Musical. She was also featured on the soundtrack of High School Musical 2 with the song “Gotta Go My Own Way”. Fresh from the success of her Disney stint, Nikki released her second album Hear My Heart.
Nikki is currently one of the most in-demand product endorsers, and has already appeared in ads for Penshoppe, Smart Communications and Avon, to name a few.
