Judy Ann Santos

Judy Ann Santos is one of Philippine showbiz’ biggest superstars.  Born Judy Anne Lumagui Santos on May 11, 1978, she is a granddaughter of the late Pampanga businesswoman Victoria-Dayrit Santos and Tatang Miguel Santos. She is a product of a broken family, and her mother raised her and her siblings Jeffrey and Jackie on her own, working as a caregiver.

Judy Ann started her acting career at a very young age. She passed the audition for the TV series Kaming Mga Ulila when she was eight years old. She then landed a lead role for the IBC-13 series Ula, Ang Batang Gubat when she was ten. Afterwards, Judy Ann formed a solid, long-running television career with ABS-CBN, and starred in numerous hit series such as Mara Clara, Esperanza and Sa Puso Ko Iingatan Ka, which showcased her extraordinary drama talents.

The actress is managed by Alfie Lorenzo, one of the most respected talent managers in the industry. The great relationship with her and Alfie is one of the reasons behind the tremendous staying power of Judy Ann’s career. Under her manager’s supervision, Judy Ann became an exclusive contract with ABS-CBN and Star Cinema, but her contracts allowed her to make guest appearances with rival networks. Her amazing career made her a multi-awarded actress (to date, she holds nine Best Actress trophies from various award-giving bodies).

Aside from show business, Judy Ann also became successful in other business endeavors. She studied at the Center for Asian Culinary Studies and trained for certification to become a professional chef. She now owns Kaffe Caribana, a fine dining restaurant in Quezon City. The actress also holds numerous product endorsement deals.

Judy Ann became linked to several co-stars in the past, such as Wowie de Guzman and Piolo Pascual. She is now engaged to actor and TV host Ryan Agoncillo.

In August 2008, a tax evasion case was filed against her, where the court claimed that the actress incurred a tax deficiency worth PHP 2.714 million.

The actress used to be dogged by issues regarding her weight. From Ula, she became a chubby teenager, and had trouble putting off the extra pounds for the longest time. Her weight issues led her to work extra hard on her fitness, and she is now sporting a firm, sexy physique that nabbed her endorsements contracts from herbal supplements and weight loss products.
