Rufa Mae Quinto
Sexy actress and comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto is truly a delight to watch onscreen. One of the most bankable stars in the country, the perky, lovable actress has over 40 movies to her credit and has numerous TV shows and product endorsements in her name. Rufa Mae was born on May 28, 1978, the eldest among seven children. She is a second-degree cousin of veteran actress Jean Garcia. She started her career in 1986 as one of the talents in the popular variety show That’s Entertainment.
Her sassy personality was noted by GMA Network in this early stage of her career, and cast her in other comedy shows such as Ober Da Bakod and Super Laff-In. Her first movie project is Kalabog en Bosyo in 1994, and she has done 10 movies since then. It was 1997’s Gloria Gloria Labandera, where she starred with sexy actor Jay Manalo, that served as Rufa Mae’s biggest break in film.
The actress starred in more primetime TV shows and movies, which made her not only a household name in the country but also as a sought-after commercial endorser. Her pretty face and voluptuous body became the trademark of her personality. She fondly became known as Booba (in reference to her generous assets) after she starred in a movie of the same title. But while her career was enjoying full success, her lovelife was a different story. In the height of her popularity, Rufa Mae become involved with singer Dingdong Avanzado. A love triangle developed between the couple and singer Jessa Zaragoza, who happened to be Rufa Mae’s close friend. This resulted to a much-publicized feud, which resulted to Dingdong leaving Rufa Mae for Jessa. Things settled down when Dingdong and Jessa migrated to the U.S. a few years after getting married here in the Philippines.
Rufa Mae focused her energies on her career and was hugely rewarded. Aside from movies and TV roles, the actress also got into other business endeavors. She also got into music, and released an album. Rufa Mae is currently one of the mainstays of the weekly variety show SOP and one of the hosts of Showbiz Central. She is also starring on the GMA’s newest primetime show Zorro.
She got into other relationships; one with basketball player Rudy Hatfield and the other with singer Erik Santos. Unfortunately, both relationships failed. Rufa is now enjoying her present relationship with American boyfriend Bobby Lopez.
