Jake Cuenca
Jake Cuenca is currently one of the fastest-rising young actors in local showbiz. Born Juan Carlos Cuenca on December 30, 1987 in San Jose, California, he started his career as a commercial and print model. His numerous endorsements include Coke and Globe Telecom. With the guidance of formidable talent managers Douglas Quijano and Neil de Guia, Jake started on his television career with the hit youth program Click. The show contributed much to his popularity, and Jake gained more TV projects after that. His acting chops were honed by attending workshops with top directors Joel Lamangan and Peque Gallaga. In 2005, he was included in the cast of the fantasy-themed series Encantadia, where he played the invincible heir of Dingdong Dantes and Karylle. Soon after that, he starred in another hit series, Majika.
As Jake’s acting career blossomed, so is his image as one of the country’s hottest young bachelors. He shed off his boy-next-door charm by posing for X-Ray magazine. He was also included in Cosmopolitan magazine’s list of most eligible bachelors for 2008. Jake appeared in numerous magazine covers, and was among the celebrity models for the bi-annual Bench underwear show in Araneta Coliseum.
The young star moved to the ABS-CBN network from GMA-7. He scored a great role in the hit series Sana Maulit Muli, which stars Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson. Jake got into more TV roles in shows like Natutulog Ba Ang Diyos and Mars Ravelo’s Lastikman.
His movies include Spirit of the Glass (2004), Say That You Love Me (2005) and For the First Time (2008).
