Iza Calzado

The beautiful Iza Calzado was born Maria Isadora Ussher Calzado on August 12, 1982. She is the daughter of TV director Lito Calzado. Before embarking on a career in showbiz, Iza worked as a dubber. She was given a guest role in the teen-oriented show, which led to more acting projects. She was included among the cast of the drama series Kung Mawawala Ka, where critics noticed her competent acting skills. GMA-7 decided to give her a lead role in the soap opera Te Amo, where she starred opposite Argentine actor Segundo Cernadas.

In 2005, Iza was cast as one of the leading characters in the fantasy series Encantadia, which became a massive hit. She played Amihan, the Queen of the Goddesses. After Encantadia, she was given another leading lady role in Atlantika, where she starred opposite Dingdong Dantes.

Her beautiful, dramatic features and exceptional talent earned her prime leading lady roles in numerous movies. Her films include Moments of Love (2006), Eternity (2006), Blackout (2007), Mona: Singapore Escort (2007), Batanes (2007), Desperadas (2007), One True Love (2008), and Desperadas 2 (2008).

Iza can now add another description to her already-impressive resume: Hollywood actress. She got to play her original role in the Holllywood remake of Yam Laranas’ horror film Sigaw. She shared screen time with actor Jesse Bradford.

She is currently on two GMA-7 series, LaLola and Obra. She will star in another series called All About Eve in 2009. Iza is reportedly planning to transfer to rival network ABS-CBN after finishing the show.

The actress includes Hilda Coronel, Maricel Soriano and Caridad Sanchez among her drama idols.

Lovelife

Iza has been linked to Bamboo lead guitarist Ira Cruz. The actress has a long-distance relationship with non-showbiz boyfriend Jerry Garcia, who is based in the States. Currently, there are reports that the two have already called it quits.
