Heart Evangelista: Update

 

2008 was definitely a good year for Heart Evangelista. After a considerable hiatus from showbiz, the lovely actress bounced back with better management and lots of choice projects on her plate. Heart just finished her soap opera series Luna Mystika, which became a primetime hit among audiences. Despite the fact the she had broken up with her non-showbiz boyfriend, Heart looks lovelier than ever.

The start of 2009 however was marked with controversy for Heart. Her anticipated team-up with Dennis Trillo for Muling Buksan Ang Puso was cancelled. According to Heart, her manager Annabelle Rama advised against taking the project primarily because the role that Heart was supposed to portray would go against the wholesome image of the actress. The young star also didn’t like the afternoon slot.

Dennis was reportedly disappointed with the decision. The actor was very vocal with his desire to work with Heart again after their first team-up on an episode of Dear Friend.

The issue didn’t end there, because the reported refusal from Heart’s camp produced a legal letter from GMA Network, implicating them for 15 million pesos worth of damages. This sparked a very public word war between Annabelle and Wilma Galvante, GMA’s Senior Vice President for Entertainment. Worse, another role-related problem was encountered by Annabelle’s other talent, JC de Vera. This escalated the feud between the talent manager and the network executive.

Controversies aside, Heart is still getting busy with her acting endeavors. As for the canceled project with Dennis, the actress was also disappointed with the decision, but she looks forward to working with the actor again in other projects.
