Angel Locsin
Angel Locsin is considered one of the most popular and bankable actresses of her generation. She was born Angelica Colmenares on April 23, 1985 in Bulacan. Her parents separated when she was 14, and Angel opted to live with her father. Before entering showbiz, Angel was just a regular girl who loves sports; she was into competitive swimming. She was discovered when she was strolling around inside a shopping mall with a friend. Soon, the 16-year old Angel was auditioning for commercials, and she got the chance to join the Star Circle group of talents. She rejected the offer because her father was not agreeable to it.
Angel persisted, and she tried her luck with GMA-7. She got initial exposure in the teen-oriented show Click, where she played a tomboy. Her biggest break came when she was cast in the popular TV show Mulawin, where she played the love interest of heartthrob Richard Gutierrez. Producers were quick to capitalize on the Richard-Angel pairing, and they were given movie projects such as Mulawin: The Movie and Let the Love Begin.
In 2005, GMA-7 chose Angel for the title role in Darna, a TV adaptation of the Mars Ravelo classic. She was chosen over several other young talents who were vying for the much-coveted role. It was in this show that Angel’s sexy image skyrocketed, for she had to don the skimpy two-piece costume that the heroine is known for. Darna opened doors for Angel especially when it comes to commercial endorsements; she nabbed deals with big-name brands such as Head and Shoulders, Timex and Jag. She also became a favorite cover girl among men’s magazines. This led to her being named by FHM Philippines as the Sexiest Woman in the country.
After Darna, Angel was given another big project, this time in the fantasy series Majika, where she starred again with Dennis Trillo. In 2007, she was cast as the leading lady of action superstar Robin Padilla in the series Asian Treasures.
After a slew of big hits with GMA-7, Angel shocked the showbiz world when she announced her transfer to rival network ABS- CBN. Her decision caused a huge controversy, coupled with rumors of a supposed “Angel Locsin Sex Scandal Video” that have spread around the Internet. Such controversy ended when it was pointed out on television that the video is actually of a foreign porn star.
ABS-CBN immediately gave the star a huge project upon her transfer; she was paired with Piolo Pascual in the hit series Lobo.
Angel is set to star in the Rory Quintos film Land Down Under, which will released in January 2009.
Angel Locsin’s Lovelife and Controversies
Angel’s superstar status made her vulnerable to meaty controversies. She was pitted against other young stars such as Marian Rivera, who became GMA-7’s leading lady star after Angel left the network.
The actress was involved in several high-profile relationships. She became Mico Sotto’s girlfriend, but the latter died of a tragic fall from a high-rise condo. She later on became involved Mico’s cousin, Oyo Boy Sotto. The relationship didn’t last because of the actress’ lack of time, given her skyrocketing career. Currently, there are rumors about her and a famous actor, Luis Manzano.

Yes folks, we would like to express our sincere opinions/experiences w/o the intention of offending anybody…. so here goes…
I would agree she (angel locsin) is practically ordinary, I met her recently in a film shoot. I spoke to her she was kinda aloof! My gosh she is a `supladita’.
Honestly, I think the negative side effects of showbiz has gotten into her skull due to immaturity. She does have some childish mannerisms & character traits very unfitting for her age.
Likewise, I would agree she is front heavy with a physique similar to that of a mother who’s given birth to 3 kids.I’m quite uncertain why???
Overall, I would say that this girl is headed for the pit — a short-lived actress w/bad ratings due to personality aberrations!!!
It makes one wonder how different her personality was back then, when she was starting from simple roots & with a history of an ailing loving father & a closely-knit family based in Bulacan.
