Alessandra De Rossi

Italian-Filipina stunner Alessandra de Rossi was born Alessandra Schiavone De Rossi on July 19, 1984 in the UK. She burst into the showbiz scene as the younger sister of bombshell Assunta De Rossi. Even as a newcomer, Alessandra’s acting talent was very much evident. She was only 16 years old when she bagged a Best Supporting Actress award at the FAMAS awards for her role in the critically-acclaimed film Azucena. First overshadowed by the older Assunta’s career, Alessandra established herself as a great dramatic actress, and this was proven more when she got nominated for her roles in other critically-acclaimed movies such as Mga Munting Tinig and Homecoming.

Alessandra brought her talents to TV, and got the much-coveted role of Valentina in the hit fantasy series Darna, which starred Angel Locsin in the title role.

Aside from her acting talents, Alessandra also became known as one of the country’s hottest cover girls. Picking where her older sister left off (Assunta retired from modeling and acting when she married politician Jules Ledesma) Alessandra posed for leading men’s magazines such as FHM. She also became one of the celebrity models for the bi-annual Bench Underwear show.

Her other TV shows include Etheria, Encantadia and Super Twins. She is currently starring on ABS-CBN’s I Love Betty La Fea.

Her other films include Astigmatism (2004), Spirit of the Glass (2004), The Maid (2005), Kutob (2005) and Hide and Seek (2007).

Lovelife and Controversies

Alessandra’s frank, straightforward attitude made her a favorite among gossip columnists. She was very outspoken about her disapproval on Assunta’s union with Jules, and the siblings’ relationship suffered during that time.

She allegedly had catfights with fellow actresses Jennylyn Mercado, Toni Gonzaga and Rhian Ramos. But her attitude also worked to her advantage; Alessandra is now being hailed as the next Celia Rodriguez, another screen goddess known for her contravida roles and quick temper.

Her relationship with actor Jeremy Marquez also grabbed showbiz headlines, especially when they broke up after being reportedly engaged.
