Edu Manzano

Dashing actor and TV host Edu Manzano was born in the San Francisco, California on September 14, 1955. He became a member of the U.S. military for four years then settled in the Philippines afterwards. Edu entered showbiz in the late 1970s, starring in movies such as Kapag Pusoý Sinugatan and Romansa. His tough, mestizo looks made him perfect for villain roles, but Edu demonstrated impressive versatility throughout the years and branched out to include comedy and dramatic roles. Some of his most memorable movies include Isang Araw Walang Diyos, Boyong Manalac: Hoodlum Terminator, Captain Barbell, Galvez: Hanggang Sa Dulo ng Mundo Hahanapin Kita, Separada, and Batang PX.

Edu also became a regular fixture in TV from the late 1980s to the present. His first TV show was Monday Night with Edu, which aired from 1986-1987. This was followed by Not So Late Night With Edu , Love Me Doods and The Edu Manzano Show. His smooth, debonair appeal made him a natural as a talk show host. From 2001, the actor started to have regular hosting gigs in game shows, starting with The Weakest Link. His more recent hosting projects include Pilipinas, Game KNB?, 1 vs. 100 and Umagang Kay Ganda.

Edu’s career has spanned decades, and despite the emergence of younger actors in the field, he still retains his marketability in showbiz. He also became active in politics, and became the vice mayor of Makati during the late 1990s.

Aside from his acting, Edu is also known for his image as a suave, ladies man. Sure enough, his ex-wife is none other than multi-awarded actress and now Governor of Batangas Vilma Santos. Their son is Luis Manzano, is now a star in his own right. Edu is now engaged to newscaster Pinky Webb.
