Gretchen Barretto

Considered as one of the most beautiful faces in showbiz, Gretchen Barretto has become a glamorous and controversial figure. Born on March 17, 1969, she is the elder sister of Marjorie and Claudine Barretto, who are also actresses. The lovely Gretchen started her showbiz career as a host of the noontime variety show GMA Supershow. She started doing movies in 1984, and she stared in films such as Tender Age and Life Begins at 40. Gretchen soon became a sexy star, donning bathing suits to show off her full figure to movie audiences.

In 1994, Gretchen became involved in the 1994 Metro Manila Filmfest scandal, where she allegedly blew the whistle on Ruffa Gutierrez and then Ms. Mauritius Viveka Babajee, who changed the names of the actual winners of the Best Actor and Best Actress winners. Gretchen took a break from showbiz after the incident, and soon resurfaced into the limelight when the public discovered that she was pregnant with billionaire Tony Boy Cojuangco‘s child. The business magnate is a married man, which made the news even juicier. For several years, Gretchen stayed away from the public eye while taking care of daughter Dominique.

However, the actress couldn’t turn away from the camera forever, and soon Gretchen became a co-host of The Buzz with Boy Abunda. At this point of her career, the public became endlessly intrigued with the glamorous facade of La Greta, who dazzled with her ageless beauty, jewels, designer clothes and opulent lifestyle with Tony Boy. The actress also grabbed headlines when she got involved in an alleged feud with friend Dawn Zulueta during a shoot for a Pantene shampoo commercial, which also featured Ruffa Gutierrez and Angel Aquino.

The biggest scandal that Gretchen faced was when pictures of her kissing actor John Estrada circulated on the Internet. The photos were taken during Rufa Mae Quinto’s birthday party. Both Gretchen and John didn’t deny or confirm what they supposedly did on the incident.
