Zero Maternal Death Reported in 3 Project Areas
Just a couple of days ago, an intense television debate reminded us all that the government policy on reproductive health, especially the birth control component, is still a very controversial topic. During the debate, it was pointed out that the country's poor has a high childbirth mortality and something has to be done about it fast.
In related news, a government project has so far been very successful in reversing the mortality trend. A pilot area of the government's maternal and child health project reported a zero maternal mortality for the entire 2007 and 1st quarter of 2008.
