How to Eat Guava
Guava is a delicious, exotic fruit that is abundant in tropical countries such as the Philippines. The colors of the guava can range from yellow to dark purple and can be either sweet or a bit tart, depending on the variety that you have chosen.
The first step to a delicious guava experience is picking out the right fruit. Make sure to choose one that is ripe enough to eat. Squeeze it gently with the palm. If it is soft enough, then you can already eat it.
People in the tropical countries just pick a guava from a tree, wash them a bit and eat it right then. If you want to savor the sight and smell of the fruit, you can slice it into two and scoop the insides out with a spoon. The smell of the fruit alone will intoxicate your senses.
When eating guavas, make sure to eat everything. Every part of the fruit is packed with vitamins that are good for the body. Even the skin or the rind of the guava can be eaten. It may leave a weird aftertaste so you have to try this for yourself.
You can use the guava in a variety of ways. It is a great addition to any kind of fruit or green salad. By itself, it can be eaten as an appetizer, but you can add dips of sugar, honey or cream cheese. For a truly exotic dessert, mix guava along with slices of kiwi, lime, mango and pineapple.
And of course, guava can be made into a refreshing and healthy beverage. You can make a simple guava shake and mix it with another fruit that will complement its taste. You can also make a special guava martini to give your guests a unique and exotic treat.
