Heart Evangelista

The lovely Love Marie Ongpauco, better known as Heart Evangelista, is one the most famous celebrities in the country. She was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1985 and spent most of her childhood in the U.S. Her family moved back to the Philippines when she was in her late teens, and studied high school in Colegio de San Agustin.

She was discovered by a commercial agent when she was shopping at the mall with her sister. This resulted to her signing a contract with Star Magic, the talent center of ABS-CBN. Heart was initially paired with actor John Prats and they starred together on the teen-oriented show G-Mik. Their loveteam became very popular, and the pair was made to star in several films together. After G-Mik, Heart and John was cast on another teen show, Berks.

Next stop for Heart was the primetime soap opera Hiram, where she was partnered with Geoff Eigenmann. The young actress earned a Best Actress trophy from Star Awards for her role.

Heart also focused on TV hosting, and she became one of the main hosts of the music channel MYX for Studio 23. in 2007, her contract with ABS-CBN was renewed, which allowed her to work on per-project basis. During this period, she starred in more TV shows, such as Hiram na Mukha and Pangarap na Bituin. The star was also working in her music career and has released several singles. Not resting in her laurels, Heart also became one of the most popular product endorsers of her generation.

In 2008, Heart suddenly transferred to rival network GMA-7 and signed an exclusive, two-year contract. She was paired with no less than Richard Guiterrez and starred in the primetime action series Codename: Asero.

She is now currently starring in the fantasy soap Luna Mystika, which pairs her with Mark Anthony Fernandez.

Lovelife and controversies

Heart had a relationship with co-star John Prats during their teenaged heyday. She also became involved with Jericho Rosales, with whom she had a three-year relationship with. Their breakup was a much-publicized one, and it was reportedly one of the reasons why the actress decided to leave ABS-CBN.

Other than that, the internet was once swamped with rumors of a so called “Heart Evangelista Scandal”, a sex video supposedly showing the young actress. Much to the dismay of the naysayers, the scandal proved to be false, with the video showing a young woman that hardly resembles the wholesome actress.
