Pia Guanio

TV host and actress Pia Guanio is a deadly combination of beauty and smarts. Born Liana Pia Coronado Guanio on October 24, 1973, Pia first became known among radio audiences as a traffic angel for Caltex Roadwatch in 1999, giving traffic advice to motorists around the metro. Soon, audiences were able to see the face behind the cute voice when Pia became a live traffic reporter for the ABS-CBN morning show Magandang Umaga Bayan in 2002. Reporting traffic conditions while aboard a helicopter, Pia was indeed a refreshing sight to see in the morning.

It was not surprising that with her good looks and intelligence, Pia’s career will go beyond traffic reporting. She went on to become a host in the game show Digital LG Quiz and became one of the casts of the long-running noontime show Eat Bulaga! Her sophisticated style and flair for showbiz reporting earned her hosting jobs in several of GMA-7’s news and gossip shows, including the weekly Showbiz Central (formerly S Files) and the daily 24 Oras.

Pia was also given acting roles in movies like Dobol Trobol and Enteng Kabisote 3. She is currently an endorser for several big-name brands such as Alaska Milk, Enervon C, Nescafe and Tokyo Fashions.

The gorgeous Pia is currently engaged to veteran actor and comedian Vic Sotto.

Anne Curtis

One of the most beautiful women in Philippine showbiz today, Anne Curtis was born Anne Ojales Curtis Smith on February 17, 1985 in Australia. Raised by a Filipina mother and an Australian father, Anne lived in the land down under until her father moved to the Philippines when she was 12. During the early part of her career, Anne appeared in commercials and supporting roles mostly under GMA-7.

She received her first real break when she moved to rival network ABS-CBN, when she was given a role in the TV series Hiram, where she starred with Heart Evangelista. Her role was a deviation from her teeny-bopper image, and this made her ready for primetime. In 2005, she was given her first leading role in TV courtesy of the show Kampanerang Kuba, an adaptation of the Vilma Santos film. Her status in primetime was further solidified when she was cast in the hit series Maging Sino Ka Man, where she starred with Pinoy Big Brother’s Sam Milby.

In 2007, Anne expanded her repertoire and became one of MTV’s VJs on the show Gimme 10. At present, she has a starring role in the fantasy series Dyosa, where she plays a goddess. Her latest movie, Baler, opposite Jericho Rosales, will be shown in December 2008.

Anne Curtis has several endorsements under her name, such as GSM Blue, Smart Communications and Petit Monde.

Anne Curtis Controversies

Anne has become famous for her very public love life, and had a string of showbiz boyfriends including Oyo Boy Sotto and Richard Gutierrez. A “scandal tape” leaked on the Internet several years ago which showed her and Richard kissing hotly while lying in bed. Anne neither admitted nor denied that she was the girl in the video.

Her alleged relationship with Sam Milby is reportedly on the rocks, as of press time. With her beautiful name matched to an equally beautiful face. It’s easy to predict the rise of Anne Curtis as one of the celebrities who will eventually make it big in Philippine showbiz.

Rhian Ramos

Filipino-Welsh beauty Rhian Denise Ramos Howell was born on October 3, 1990 in the Philippines. Her rise to showbiz fame was quick, bagging a lead role opposite Richard Gutierrez in the hit TV show Captain Barbell even though she was just new in the industry. After Captain Barbell came a slew of leading lady roles that other young actresses won’t be able to get in such a short time.  She starred with Richard again on the action show Lupin, then went on to star on the film My Only Love opposite Mark Herras. The film was Rhian’s biggest break in the business so far, and she recently signed a full and exclusive contract with GMA Films.

On May 2008, Rhian, along with other talents including beauty queen Abigail Cruz, represented the Philippines in the 3rd Asian Supermodel Contest in Guangxi, China. Despite being noticeably shorter than other foreign contestants. Rhian walked away from the competition with a major award.

She is currently in a starring role in the TV series LaLola, where she plays a man trapped in a woman’s body after being transformed by a curse.

Controversies

Her rapid rise to fame did not go unnoticed among other people in showbiz. Critics were always quick to cite her relationship with GMA’s Artist Head Ida Henares (she is Rhian’s aunt) as the reason for her sudden superstardom. She was allegedly involved with catfight issues with fellow actresses Alessandra de Rossi and Ara Mina. Haters also made a negative issue of her close friendship with notorious DJ Mo Twister.
