My friends and I made reservations to stay at Ocean View Lodge in Alaminos City, the port city of Hundred Islands and I personally made the reservations for our 3D/2N stay 2 weeks before our scheduled trip.  I called the manager several times to re-confirm the reservation and even offered to put a down payment however he said it was not necessary.  We were scheduled to be there on Saturday afternoon so I called him on Thursday evening to again re-confirm and all was set.  Lo and behold, when we were already along the Lingayen Gulf in Pangasinan, I called to tell him that we would be there at 4pm as originally discussed.  He then tells me, "Oops, sorry, binigay na namin yung mga kwarto niyo sa iba"!!!  Of course I was pissed off and when I told him that was the reason why I had re-confirmed it so many times he said "Ay...kasi, di ko po na sabihan yung kasama ko at nabigay na niya sa iba kanina!"

To make a long story short, we were suddenly out of a place to stay and suddenly had to look for accommodations.  We were a group of 12 pax and it was a long weekend during peak season so it was sooooooo hard to find a place! 5 HOURS and about 7 resorts later along the towns of Alaminos, Sual & Labrador,  we finally settled into "La Isla Bonita", a decent enough place.

Moral of the story is DON'T make reservations at the "Ocean View Lodge" for your own sanity!

yeah! their 12-hour short time rate!

and i couldn't forget that facial reaction of "manong" when he saw the three of us walking inside that motel...

there are other good places to stay in labrador anyway like the covelandia and prince jireh... its just that at that time, its fully booked most of them are walk-in guest. and i don't trust reservations now. look at what happened to us) or the prices are too high...

Thanks to La Isla Bonita.

That wasn't nice at all. A friend who owns a resort in Bora once told me that he once had to explain to the DTI after an angry customer wrote a complaint letter. Apparently, the DTI seriously looks into cunsumer complaints.

To make a long story short, we were suddenly out of a place to stay.....

HMMM!!!   That's a very interesting suggestion!  Maybe we should write a complaint letter to DTI... Would you guys know how to go about it?  Having previously worked at a hotel myself, the situation with Ocean View is just simply unheard of!  Argh....my anger is starting to flare again!

That's the thing with these obscure, family-run (read: unprofessional) resorts.

My family and I stayed at Prince Jireh some years back. Though we didn't have a problem securing a reservation (they INSISTED on a bank deposit, anyway), the staff were unbelievably stupid (for some reason they were tourism OJTs from a local college), the managers were unfriendly, and the food and amenities sucked.

I guess you get what you pay for.

During our day-long search for a place, we actually checked out Prince Jireh too but it kinda scared us a bit coz it seemed more like a Christian retreat house, rather than a resort.  Not that there's anything wrong with that and though it was a nice place, it seemed a little too quiet for a group of 4 kids, 5 girls, 1 straight man and 1 gay guy!  Wink

You guys can actually file a complaint to DTI as long as you have enough evidences. As I see it, you only had verbal agreements with Ocean View Lodge, and I guess that isn't enough. Not unless you have papers at hand from the resort confirming your reservation.

I couldn't help but be pissed off too while reading your post. Dahil lang sa katangahan ng crew nila eh nawalan pa kayo ng place na pagi-stay-han. That's just plain stupid. Nakakainis.
